Flint Hills Technical College is a two-year public institution of higher education nestled in the rolling hills of east-central Kansas. It is located at the intersection of I-35 and the Kansas Turnpike in Emporia, a city in the heart of the beautiful rangeland known as the Flint Hills and just a short distance from the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve.


The mission of Flint Hills Technical College, as an associate degree granting institution, is to provide a diverse community of learners with life-long educational opportunities for personal growth and preparation for professional and civic responsibilities that meet the needs of society.

Flint Hills Technical College offers 15 programs of study along with a variety of short-term training courses and continuing education courses. Classes are small with an average 15 to 1, student to faculty ratio. You get to know your instructors and they'll get to know you.

The FHTC Library supports the College in providing on campus and online educational opportunities, connects learners with content through access and services, and enhances personal growth leading to employment and lifelong learning.

The Library is in Room M123 and is located across from the Conference Center.

Unsure of what program is the best fit for you or what classes you need to take? Unsure of your financial aid options? You need to visit the Student Services Office! The Student Services Office is a one-stop shop to assist students with admissions, enrollment, advising, financial aid, and counseling.

Flint Hills Technical College encourages visitors, whether they are considering enrolling, gathering information or are just curious. The campus is open year-round, and there is always a staff member available to answer questions and provide information. Although visitors are encouraged to schedule an appointment, drop-ins are welcome any time.

Get Started Today - Enrollment Steps

1. Complete all sections for the Application for Admission and click the submit button at the bottom of the form.

2. Send your educational records.

3. Non U.S. Citizens must meet acceptable citizenship criteria prior to seeking admission.

4. Home-schooled students must provide a transcript with the school name and location, courses with credits and grades, graduation date and the school administrator's signature. The students name and date of birth must also be included.

5. Schedule an appointment to take the ASSET test or confirm that your ACT results will satisfy admission requirements.

6. Students seeking Advanced Placement and/or Credit-by-Exam must notify the appropriate Division Chair prior to enrollment.

7. Acceptance for admission is established by completing all of steps 1-5. Once accepted, pay the non-refundable college fee to hold your place in class. Tuition and Lab Fees are due before the first day of class.

8. The final step prior to starting classes is to attend FHTC "Final Enrollment". At Final Enrollment, tuition for classes is due, you will receive your parking permit, student ID, and class schedule. You will receive notification of this event by mail.

9. Note: If you intend to apply for federal financial grants or scholarships, stop by or call the Financial Aid Office at (800) 711-6947 or (620) 343-4600. Plan to do this several months in advance if possible; but it's never too late.
